Paterson on March 12, 2009 as he proclaimed 2009 the Year of the Child Welfare Caseworker “to increase awareness and understanding of the professional role of caseworkers”…

NASW – Associate Commissioner, Sheila Poole recently addressed the National Association of Social Workers NY Chapter in Albany. Her presentation focused on the need for improving recruitment and retention of caseworkers working in the field of child welfare.

“Instability in the child welfare workforce has a direct impact on the quality of services provided to families. We need to address workforce recruitment and retention challenges head on and have a number of initiatives underway to improve the competency, stability and satisfaction of the child welfare workforce. Our “Caseworkers Make a Difference Campaign” intends to do just that and we are gratified by the Governor’s support of the campaign”
